In this modern era, pharmacy institution has to follow global standards of pharmaceutical education to meet the challenges imposed by competitive environment, in order to fulfill the country’s huge need of trained professionals, who would fulfill to the demands of pharmaceutical industries.
Pharmaceutical chemistry is a discipline at the intersection of chemistry and pharmacology involved with designing, synthesizing and developing pharmaceutical drugs. Pharmaceutical chemistry involves the identification, synthesis and development of new chemical entities suitable for therapeutic use. It also includes the study of existing drugs, their biological properties, and their quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR).
Pharmaceutical analysis is focused on quality aspects of medicines and aims to assure fitness for the purpose of medicinal products.
The department has well-furnished labs which include Pharmaceutical Chemistry-I, Pharmaceutical Chemistry – II and Pharmaceutical Analysis. Labs have facilities for synthesis and analysis of drug molecules as per Pharmacopoeial standards, having HPLC, UV/visible Spectrophotometer, Fluorimeter, Flame Photometer, Polarimeter, etc.
